The town of Wollongbar is nestled right on top of the Alstonville Plateau adjacent to the town of Alstonville itself. Wollongabar has grown relatively quickly in recent years and is characterized by peaceful, family-friendly neighborhoods. The town benefits from amenities such as a thriving local pub, supermarket, medical facilities, cafes, and a very active Christian Church, in addition there a number of different sporting facilities. With a population of just over 3,000, Wollongbar maintains the feeling of a small rural town but is located only 20 minutes drive from the larger regional towns of Lismore and Ballina. Wollongbar is also home to the TAFE Community College and the Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute which is part of the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
